Hi, I know this question may get asked a lot but I’m wondering; when you think about all the places and the experience you had there as a whole (scenery, people, laws, culture, etc) what takes the cake as the closest to perfect?

I know perfection isn’t a thing when it comes to being an expat, but I’m sure you’ve felt once before “if it had just this one thing it would be perfect”

I think mine would be Ikaria, Greece.

I felt like this about San Diego, but I got sick of it after 4 years (went there for college). I do think that the neighborhoods I lived in weren’t the greatest though.

Calgary is amazing, I moved from Toronto 2 years ago and never looked back. People are chill and leave you alone, no one hold into their opinions for dear life and amazing quality of life for the cost of living. Not to mention being able to snowboard WITHIN city limits as well as go to the mountains. Weather is amazing, sunshine during winter time is a must! People think it’s cold here, which is BS, but as long as it keeps the entire Ontario from moving here I’m willing to support the lie 😹

it might only be because it’s the longest i’ve lived abroad, but Siena, Italy. i’ve never felt safer in my life. it was a bit racist tbh but it wasn’t necessarily a barrier so i noticed less. the pace of life, how nice it was getting to hang out w so many ppl from all over the world, the walkability was insane, and even more specifically, i loved my apartment and location and how easy i could get to all transportation to travel more. a dream truly, a beautiful city on a hill w so many lovely views. i could never forget.

Hawaii, but only during the pandemic. It was amazing. All these beautiful beaches to yourself without any tourists. I miss those days.

Bundaberg, Queensland - Australia. Not the most exciting in terms of nightlife of shopping but perfect weather all year round, not too many stingers in the water in summer, close to the beach and enough activity to keep you busy if you want it.

Loire Valley gets a vote. Not if you’re looking for a lot of urban excitement, but for gorgeous country and great food it can’t be beat.

Mine is Mexico, Caribbean side. Only left because of the drug related violence. I will go back as a tourist, but I didn’t want to get installed due to that violence.

I’m traveling in Europe right now. People are so serious and frankly the bureau is dimming my light. You can’t really visit as you keep having to do paperwork for a good 6 intensive weeks and then again for weeks each time you switch country. You need to show proof of housing before you even get to the new country and because you need health car before arriving you are double insured about 3 months a year.

I know it’s not like that for citizens, but for people who want to slow travel, it’s hell unless.you actually want to be a resident in one single country of the continent.
