Being broke in a country that has a 3% unemployment rate is better than being broke in one that has a 36% unemployment rate.

Running away from broke won’t change. Sit down and ask what do you need to do to get where you want to go? Running into something instead of running away from something, would be a better mindset. Are you studying? Do you have a learning disability that you’re not addressing and it’s impacting your capacity to study? What Do you want to do or do you want to be an entrepreneur? What interests you?..… the beginning stages of anything are uncomfortable. That’s part of the process. You don’t know. You’re not certain and you don’t know how…. Seek a mentor and gather information from possible role models. Learn how they did it. The structure, the process, the challenges and be realistic of the process (it takes time, not an overnight thing)

  • Currency conversions favor those with dollars, pounds/euros. For $150 000 you can buy a place close to the beach in a developing country.

Crime is a global issue so it’s not that you can buy safety the best is to find a community where people have each others back. In developing countries most home owners are armed to protect themselves because the police are useless. Investing in cameras, electric fences and burglar bars may be needed.

Healthcare coverage has to be bought and it covers (full dental, eye and body) it’s not separated like in USA. Food overseas 100x better. In price and flavor profiles. Quality food and variety that is affordable. The cheap food just means pay better tips cos the locals don’t get paid well. I like to tip above the standard. People are always warm and deserving of their tips unlike in the west where it feels like extortion. Especially when server wasn’t great or rushed!

What do I love about developing countries. They have REAL freedom! There’s no 11pm Park or beach Curfew(common in the west cites in USA) , no one tells you to leave the beach at night or no one tells you to not ride your horse like a Mongolian warrior in the fields or sign a waiver. There’s an expected understanding that respect for nature is needed and the locals are aware… don’t swim in the dawn because of sharks (some foreigners don’t obey the laws of nature and get taken down)…. They don’t go and kill the poor animals because it did what it does. Unlike USA they will kill The wolf, the alligator or the bear because humans chose to disregard their environment and existence. Individual responsibility is understood. Have respect for the ocean and nature and live off the land not against it.

  • Canada has labor programs and labor shortages in rural remote areas. You may want to upskill yourself and apply for those. My cousins wife applied for the boutique spa manager role and the family that owned the Resort, sponsored her and her husband (whose now studying to be an electrical engineer)

It’s beautiful and peaceful place (in remote rural areas) but comes with all the hurdles of relocating and missing food, family and dealing with the cold (a big challenge for someone who thrives in tropical climates) and if you’re in a rural remote area there’s the lack of socialization at the level that the city has.

Pros: Your accommodation is paid for. You are working and saving and most Canadian families are very welcoming and will tour around to show you the landscape…

In my cousin’s case they had each other. I know he’s ego was bruised when he couldn’t work(due to waiting for work permits and needing to completely restudy since his credentials couldn’t transfer )and had to depend on his wife (this was something he had never experienced and he felt less of a man- but we literally had to let him know that it’s temporary and be supportive) Waiting to be able to work is probably the most frustrating part too.

Western nations will appreciate those who add value. For anyone coming from a developing country where unemployment is 36%+ lower mobility, Anything below that is nothing.

Competition exists all over the world, the difference is the western nations is FILLED with people who will not do things below their “standard”… this is why some pick on immigrants. Although, if you come from survival mode it’s all one knows. The concept of convenience is very western. It doesn’t exist in the developing world. Hardship, is more common than convenience.

Labor costs more in the west! When doing currency conversions, the amount earned supersedes everything.

Go after what you want, it’s your journey and you learn through DOING. Even if you change your mind along the way, it’s still YOUR journey. Good luck!!
