There’s no shortage of racism inside Africa either.

Salaries in London will be more on par with what you earn in NYC.

Salaries in London aren’t even on par with affordable US cities unless you are referring to unskilled jobs like checkout operator, janitor, etc.

School shootings are actually really rare.

Bigger issues are carjackings, muggings, etc. Kinds of violent crimes that happen daily in major US cities. You can live in a very safe suburb, but that limits activities that may be closer to poorer more dangerous areas.

Can you elaborate on the making money part? What makes it the best nation in the world from that standpoint? Genuinely curious.

We moved from Australia. If we moved back ,we would each take about 50-70% pay cut, in very different unrelated industries. A similar home to our one in the US would cost about 3x the price.

We are essentially about 4-5x richer in America working the same jobs. When we get to the point of not needing to work anymore, we would probably move back to Australia.

US is the best nation in the world to make money. But once you have made money, there are other countries with lower income inequality and crime rates that are nicer to live in.

Moved to the US. Original plan was do it a few years and then move back. The housing market and cost of living in Australia keeps getting worse each year, and life in American financially has been significantly easier.

Now am at the point where we could move back as culturally for the kids there are some benefits, but the 60-70% salary cut each + housing being triple the cost has us staying in the US. The difference is simply too large.

If you have barely left America, then you will probably have a much easier time moving to another part of America that is more aligned with what you are looking for.

Moving internationally in middle age is much easier for those who are well traveled. Some of what you complain about here are the same in every country.

Yes, to varying degrees

Are they all at risk of war?

No, but America is probably the least likely to see war at home. If this is a major concern, there’s nowhere better protected than the US.

Are rich people and corporations given legal passes and tax breaks everywhere?

Yes. In other western countries it’s even worse, which makes their richest people all inherited wealth. This is an area America is much better, because America’s richest are mostly self made.

Is there gang violence

America is really bad in this area compared to other western countries. You will see less violent crime elsewhere.

Guns is an American issue, and not an issue elsewhere. If you live in a nice suburb, your risk in America is greatly reduced, but still higher than elsewhere.

Positives and negatives to the American healthcare vs other countries. I prefer the approach in other countries, but if you have employer health insurance in America, it’s often better than what you will get in universal system in other countries (less waiting, more treatments available). The universal systems are cheaper.

As an Aussie who moved to the US, I have gotten so soft over internal temperature. Having it 21C/71F year round. I can’t imagine going back to the wild swings of trying to sleep in Australia when it’s 10C or 30C indoors.
