I’m an American who’s lived in Japan for 35 years and I love it here. I have some American friends, some Japanese friends, the people I work with, I don’t really have a “tribe” but I get along OK. I have my wife and kids of course.

I’m an American who’s lived in Japan for 35 years. I just love it here, the people are nice and hard-working, it feels cheap to live here because prices don’t go up very much, of course if you’re earning money and Jan and going back home it would feel expensive right now because of the exchange rate. The thing I love the most about Japan is, the people, but also the reasonable healthcare which is always there for me when I need it.
I am an American, who has been living in Japan for 35+ years. I love it here, people are so thrilled when I speak Japanese to them, and the work ethic is very positive here. I feel like, no matter how hard I work, Not working as hard as the Japanese people around me, although in real terms, they are less productive than any other major industrial country in the world. Anyway, I love living here, and I love the cost of living, and I love having to pay ¥800 for a doctor visit, which is ridiculously low.
Of course, that isn’t the whole thing, I pay about $900 for my monthly insurance payment, but it still works out pretty well in the end.
