I hear you. I’d like to let go of my “outsider” feeling, but they won’t let me, lol. It’s clear that I’m foreign and will always be, even after obtaining nationality, but I don’t need it pointed out to me every second. It’s ok to be different, but the way most people talk about it, it’s like it isn’t ok.
Same here. I’ve been here for seven years and will stay for a few more because of my kid, but we will eventually leave.
I didn’t realize that eyelashes, fillers, etc. we’re cultural . Lol
I don’t know but I experienced the same thing at all the German institutes I applied to. I got one interview and after that, no news, nothing.
My interviews also had a person on the committee who wasn’t specialized in the field but was there to ensure that the questions I was being asked weren’t discriminatory. That’s what I was told, anyway.
My kid is 18 months and we speak English at home and French outside of it. Nanny speaks Portuguese and we were considering adding the local minority language but that’s probably too much, so we will focus on the first two for now.
