  • I beg to differ honestly. Have you tried getting US citizenship for your child or VA benefits…or any sort of benefits that you have a right to during or after service? My husband has been out of the army for closing in on a year and the VA hasn’t even begun to examine his claim for disability and keeps requesting documentation in paper and digitally that he already provided threatening to decide his case without documentation if not provided within 30 days. Also we tried getting oha while he was still in the military, we went there FIVE times and every time they claimed we didn’t have all the documents and needed XYZ in addition. Then we had to get it all translated by an approved translator (even though we were assured the first four times it was fine without a translation but oops the rules changed yesterday, were so sorry) and also you have to come by IN PERSON or we won’t do it. Also, you can’t make an appointment, just show up and hope you get called. If we’re too busy it sucks to suck and you have to come back and wait a couple hours again hoping you get your chance, bye!

And have you tried doing your taxes while your spouse is not American? Bahahahaha. You better figure it out! You need a tin for a tin and a code and whatnot or your claim won’t go through, also better don’t file jointly if your spouse makes any money or the US will tax you double, enjoy!

I personally think, if you’re a foreigner you have it hard in almost any country. I definitely can’t speak for how much better the US is in comparison to Germany as dealing with their stuff has made me extremely appreciative of how easy and smooth the German system is.
