I agree, although I feel like that’s usually with the people who just moved from the Netherlands. People who have lived abroad for some time tend to do that less.

I would also wait out the 2024 elections. We moved to the US just before the 2020 elections and it was terrible. People were really tense in general. Of course there was COVID too, but the elections had a lot of effect on people. Even though I’m sad to leave the US I’m glad I’m leaving before the elections.
I have lived in several countries and I’ve never felt so welcoming as in the US. It took more time to get used to living here, but I will definitely miss it. Especially the people. I do feel like my daily life was more stressful in the US. Financially, but also because several things are unnecessarily complex. I had surgery and I keep receiving random medical bills from different providers.
What’s your timeline with your boyfriend? Would you like to get married, kids?
The reason I’m asking is because when I got out of university I mainly wanted to work on my career, have fun and travel. I moved to the US with my husband then. My priorities changed when I had my two kids though, which is why I’m moving back to Europe after 6 years. So it might not be the right time for you to move back now. You don’t have to decide if you’re both content at the moment. Can you talk with your boyfriend about it?
I get Always from Costco and I feel like they’re the same as in Europe.
