Nah as a western european living in east asia, east asia is way safer.

Lived in Seoul for a year and came back to France. I realized for the first time of my life how bad it was (slow, not safe, grumpy people, bad infrastructure, not convenient, boring…) I was legit depressed.
Living in Asia made living in my home country literally unbearable, because when I didn’t know it was fine, I liked living in France. But when i experienced the difference within me… it’s hard to go back frankly. You realize lot of stuff isn’t normal imo. Not saying asian societies are better, there are bad sides as well. But it fits me so much more.
Therefore I did everything in my power to leave for good. Went back to Seoul 6 months later and haven’t looked back since, been 3 years now that I left for good.
I think what you’re experiencing is the same for all expats, if you’re not a native you’ll never feel like you belong 100%. I think if you can’t make your peace with it, unfortunately expat is not for you in the very long term probably yeah.
When I was single yes I did actually. Now I wouldn’t do it, I’m married, we have plans so I can’t afford to not have any income for an extended period of time.
