So I just got a job offer in Singapore but if I’m trusting my research, I think they have low-balled the salary at SGD5000. The job looks okay, but more importantly it’s an offer that helps me leave a failing economy and struggling financial situation. That’s the catch low: I don’t want to leave one bad financial situation for another.

I have six years of experience in my field, excellent recommendations, and with very specific further qualifications. This job is already a demotion from my current title (I am that eager to leave, yes). My question is: is it possible to rent a studio or small one bedroom flat on this salary in the slightest? That, and would I be living paycheck to paycheck? My research doesn’t seem to be yielding positive results, but I figured it was best to talk to people.

Any help is really appreciated!

You will struggle on that salary. The cost of rent and living is so high now. You won’t have wiggle room to really have fun or travel around the region on that salary.
