Hello,
Looking for LGBTQ friendly countries that have decent left leaning people, good food, fun scene, nature, entertainment, quality of life. My wife (35F) & I (33F) are looking for recommendations. We have a sizeable nest egg, enough to move to almost anywhere & nice passive income. We would prefer to get a golden visa or something similar to get PR in that country but would need to keep our USC. We don’t need to work and our passive income will be coming in from the US. We will also keep our US residencies and go back annually. We are of eastern asian decent speak a few languages each. Not looking to work at other countries and can pay for healthcare in new country. We could also purchase in this new place so finding housing would be easier. We do travel a lot and would prefer a country we don’t have to be there most of the year. We like western countries or first world countries but are open to others. Thank you in advance.
Anywhere EXCEPT Hong Kong. That place will instantly drown lesbians into depression unless you’re caucasian. Any asian or local looking lesbians face day to day discrimination including and not limited to all kinds of slurs, the infamous judgmental laser stare that they make sure you feel uncomfortable and very often but not exposed and reported enough physical assaults happened now and then.
Worse if you’re trans or masculine butch looking individuals, you WILL get refused entering into clubs and bouncers would not have a second thought enforcing physical intimidation if you try and reason. I’ve witnessed a trans girl being rejected into a club and was pushed onto ground whilst Her other mates got in. I’ve also seen a butch got poured a full pint of beer all over outta nowhere and no one did or said a thing.
Hong Kong, despite all the glams and claims as an international city hub, in fact still embrace a relatively backward society system with much patriarchy and misogynistic mindset individuals of all generations, older or young.
So, no. Not Hong Kong.
I spent my formation years, lived and worked oversea in western countries, SEA and east Asia. I’d say most progressive cities are, Melbourne, London, Bristol,Berlin, Bangkok, Singapore and Taiwan.
