Hi r/expats,

I am a 23 year old from Australia who is looking to move to Europe next year for approximately 6 months to work, with a 1 month trip at the end. Obviously for an Australian, London is the main choice but I can’t see how I would be able to work a casual job whilst affording the rent and living expenses.

I understand this may be an ambitious ask, but I am looking for on advice on where in Europe to work and what job I would need that would, at minimum, allow me to break even financially, as I have money saved but would like to keep this for a property purchase in the near future. Ideally I would like to work casual hours so I have flexibility for sporadic weekend trips here and there, but I am also open to working full time and taking the occasional Friday off or just going to different cities on the weekend.

Since I only speak English, this obviously limits my choices , but I hear that I could get away with only speaking English in Prague and the Netherlands? Are there good jobs I can work in these locations?

Any advice welcome! Thanks!

Part time, or “casual” job, in one of the most expensive cities on the planet, with no visa (presumably since you don’t mention it), that pays enough to cover your significant expenses and still have money to travel around too?

    Good luck.
