I moved to a particular country purely for studying reasons - 3 year long bachelor. I am currently on my last year which means I will be going back home very soon. As you can tell, I absolutely hate this country. Coming back here after the summer (from my home country) I was full of energy, wanting to make the best out of this last year. However, it has only been 3 months now and I can feel myself unraveling. All I want to do is sleep so that the day of departure comes faster. The first month or two I was really pushing to make the best out of my situation, was very productive and time seemed to pass very fast. But now, it feels as though so much time is still left and I feel as though I just won’t be able to manage and to hold on any longer…

How do I cope with this?

I think a happy person could have a good time anywhere. I lived in the DRC and enjoyed it. It’s about the connections you make & the appreciating the small things in life. If you’re this miserable in the Netherlands I honestly think it might be an excuse for something deeper? Worth reaching out to your GP as you might be depressed and not realise it? Not trying to sound condescending just worth looking at what it is that’s making you so miserable!
