If I’m not overpaying, I can go anywhere. I have no obligations. I’m not working. I don’t care about touristic attractions. I’m traveling cause it keeps me around interesting people (hostels), makes me healthier, makes life more interesting.

I keep looking at the map and idk where to go next lol. Croatia. Spain. Italy. Greece. Bosnia. Serbia. Albania. Morocco. Tunisia. Vietnam. Bali. Or Central Europe because they have proper heating in winter unlike some of Southern Europe. Idk

Is there a tool that can tell me where to go based on a few criteria? Like cost of good hostels, cost of transportation to get there, maybe average indoor temperature and maybe ethnicity or friendliness. I’m bored of making decisions. I just want to roam around

    Just freaking go.

Find airfare that is agreeable to a place that has airbnbs that you like (or hostel prices that work for you). Dont over think it. You’re going to go to place you love and places you feel meh about. You’ll learn over time what to look for. Dont over think it

There isn’t a turnkey solution for slow travel and you will overpay for stays that aren’t at least 6 months in one place. Pick the place of interest closest to you, book a month-long stay, and just hop over the next closest city or country of interest every month or so.

It keeps transportation time and costs down. Do the whole trip in a loop, if you can. In 6-12 months, you’ll start gaining a sense for the kind of environments you like most… big cities, small beach towns, remote villages surrounded by nature, etc.

Spend more time in the environments you love most, and ground yourself in a routine…

    • Learning language
    • Learning dance
    • Learning painting or photography
    • Learning cooking
    • Learning a new trade skill
    • Practicing yoga, pilates, meditation, martial arts, etc.

Have a plan for meeting new people. Put yourself in a position to make new friends and connections. Everything else kind of takes care of itself.

I’ve been in a similar situation to you, with the ability to pretty much go anywhere.

    I’d say go to Bangkok.

In the past year I’ve been to Lisbon, Porto, Madeira, London, Birmingham, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Barcelona, Paris, Toulouse, Marrakech, Düsseldorf, Bratislava, Budapest, Vienna, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Shanghai and Perth.

Out of all those places I spent longer periods in Lisbon, London and Bangkok.

In my opinion Bangkok is the best because it’s a friendly cyberpunk jungle with great food, interesting nomads and a shit load to do. It also won’t kill your bank account like London. The biggest downsides are the traffic and heat but you can work around the traffic and you get used to the heat.

But yeah, obviously it depends on your personality… am just sharing my experience! Bangkok is awesome and my fav for living. If it were just a week (totally different criteria) I’d go Paris, London or Hong Kong.

I started traveling to flee the harsh and never ending Canadian winters so being able to wear flip flops was my main criteria.

Then safety, price and the color of the ocean. Caribbeans blue being near the top of my list.

Now I surf so the height and strength of the waves became a new criteria.
