I just read a long thread about all of the things US expats miss about life in the US. I thought it would be interesting to ask about the opposite: What do you NOT miss about life in the US?

I’m in the US now, but when I was an expat in Cairo, I loved how cheap it was to have someone work for you. I had a driver that picked me up at my apartment each morning and took me to work, then took me home in the evening. A maid that would come and clean every day and tidy up, make my bed.

Once a week, she’d send my clothes to the cleaner then get them the next day and fold everything and hang stuff in my closet. The shoeshine guy (gazmagi), would come once a week and polish my shoes. Every food place delivered for no extra cost, just a little tip for the driver, even McDonald’s or KFC. You couldn’t buy beer in the grocery store, but I had an account with the beer store and they would deliver weekly. It was really nice
