I’m originally from the UK but I’m now in Canada and I hover around some groups of people from the UK online and in person and I swear the Brits are the most whiny people to ever move anywhere. These people genuinely move to places and expect it to be exactly like the UK and when it’s not they shit on the country. Idk if it’s some leftover colonial mindset or something that hasn’t been removed from their psyche?

I’ve heard people complain that there’s no British cream (like the standard whipping cream which exists but is called something different) in stores, British bread, British seasonings, very specific type of curry called the brimingham balti which I don’t think I’ve seen outside of northern England. Amongst many other things and it’s absolutely mind blowing

Genuinely makes me embarassed to be in anyway related to these people. Anyone else get absolutely sick of your old countries people?

    I notice that white western expats in Asia are just at each others throats a lot.

    They’ll be nice in public but when they get online and anonymous it’s just a “I am the bestest most richest and most intergrated expat”. They’ll gladly throw fellow white expats under the bus to help themselves.

    POC tend to have solidarity with each other when they are a minority in a country but not white people. Why do you think this is?

      Then there are the missionaries. They’ll be vaguely pleasant to your face and accept gifts and invitations from you. Will they give you a gift or invite you someplace? Once they find out you are not the same kind of Christian they are and have no intention of converting, no. I suspect you could be drowning and they wouldn’t even throw you a life preserver. That’s my experience, anyway.

      I’m not going to be sh*tty so someone just because they have different beliefs than I do. It would be nice if they could return the favor.

        Where I’m from, UK. Black and Muslim communities will work together to push for more rights and better treatment. But white people in Asia don’t do this.

          But like you’ve said, you’re comparing how whites in asia act online to how blacks and muslims act in public (specifically when they’re organizing and campaigning for more rights and better treatment)

          Try browsing chinese-language subreddits sometime, most of their vitriol is directed at other Chinese based on class, regional discrimination, immigration status, or political differences.

          Or heck, even videos of the fights that have broken out between Hong Kong and mainland students in western campuses and cities
