Hello,

I’m leaving the UK in January and moving to the Netherlands. This is my first time living outside of England so I was looking for some advice in things i need to do before going. I have a working visa (and a job) for the Netherlands, I was thinking more HMRC, UK bank account, etc.

Thanks :)

Inform hmrc that you’re leaving otherwise they might harass you to do your taxes for the rest of your life.

You give them too much credit. They aren’t organised enough to do that. When I left it was me doing the chasing and requesting information haha.

Do you have to let hmrc know when you leaving the uk? But how would they charge for taxes if you no longer work in the country?

I experienced this when I was self employed and had to file self assessment. So I had to let them know whether I was due to file one or not based on where I lived and employment status. Failing to let them know leads to fines. But it’s probably not the same if you’re employed at a company.
