US/D dual citizen here. I am about to retire in the US and will start medicare. People are telling me that to continue qualifying for part B I need to live in or near the US. We are planning to travel quit a bit and maybe stay longer in some part of Europe if we enjoy it. Does that mean that I would have to travel back 2 or 3 times a year to not loose part B and be penalized thereafter? How do they know whether I am traveling or “living” e.g. in Germany? Appreciate any insight.
You need to pay the Part B premium or else you won’t have access to that part of Medicare when you return to the US.
There is no requirement to travel back.
