I am going with option 3 for the VPN and originally ordered two Opals for configuration but did a speed test and saw I have 150 mbps for both download and upload speed. Is it worth it to upgrade to Beryl or Slate since they have higher max speeds via wire guard? If so, should both my home and travel router be updated or just one of them?

For reference the listed wireguard speeds: Beryl - 91 mbps Opal - 65 mbps Slate Plus - 170 mbps

Just use a Raspberry Pi 4B? The GL-iNet routers don’t even officially support Tailscale. It’s still beta. So why trust it with hosting your exit node?

What places are you going? What are the odds they have >65mbps speeds? In my experience, most airBNBs and hostels will not. If you’re mostly going to be using co-working spaces or places with guaranteed high speeds, I say worth it. I’ll also note the Beryl AX can theoretically get 300mbps with Wireguard.
