Hey Y’all - Has anyone stayed at a Selinas in Costa Rica while working? Any thoughts? Warnings?
I normally go for Costa Basmati. I’m a fan of Selinas Costa whole grain, but it’s hard to find.
I’ve heard multiple times that they’re not a good place to get work done. Too noisy, too distracting but otherwise fun.
I heard ppl say this about regular hostels but that’s why Selinas have coworking - big difference. Check the reviews for each specific one though
Thanks all
Costa Rice, my favourite central america country by far . . .
I started avoiding selina at all cost.
They are too expensive, their services isnt what it used to be, hence they even charge for the cowork like 10-20USD per day. If you don’t pay for the cowork, you wont have access to a stable internet since the cowork internet has a special password which they change every few.
You can get cheaper, better and cleaner hostel with better cowork space
Check out their shareholders program. It’s like loyalty with hotels and with the current share price you can get always free coworking for just $70 plus other perks and technically you don’t even “pay” for the privilege. Idk how long will they keep the program but it’s new
Oh yes, i got an email about it. But I still think selina isnt what it used to be 5-6years ago.
All Selinas in Latin America blow, avoid at all cost. They went wayyyyy down hill when they went public a bit ago, hemorrhaged money. And now everything else has gone with it maintenance, cleaning. I’m not sure if it’s because they get bitched at all day because of aformentioned, but even the front desk people who at a hostel are pretty cool, suck.
-also they’re overpriced even when they were good. But to be fair their bar scene is pretty cool so if you’re staying near a Selina check it out.Not all are bad, for example Ecuador banos is great and Quito city. Overall usually check the booking/google reviews to decide about each specific one to stay. For many countries they have discount codes which lowers the price significantly. Also check their shareholder program big discounts and perks
when’s the last time you stayed in one?
