So I’m currently a junior at the University of Michigan and my major is international studies. I’m not sure how useful my degree is and I don’t really care because the only reason I’m going to college is because I got a scholarship. Anyways after I graduate I’d like to do a year or so internship abroad. It would need to be a paid internship also. I’ve heard of the JET program which looks good but it’s also hard to get into from what I’ve read so I want to make a list of possible programs for me to choose from. So does anyone have any recommendations of good paid, postgrad, international internships? Thank you!

I have no clue what your specialization is if it’s just international studies, but if you’re interested into bridging into political work/advocacy, I recommend finding a small nonprofit that works in coalitions. You can use that opportunity to work with and network with other groups who may be hiring when you graduate. That’s how I got my job postgrad, and that’s how I ended up well connected with big NGOs in DC in the international political sphere. Start small.
