You obviously haven’t been listening to the news. Europe is moving to the right-Note the NL elections and the far-right Islamaphobic leader who is now in power. Dublin has had riots from right wing scumbags.

And oddly, I had Thanksgiving with people from different political views. We made a “no politics” pact and actually had a great time talking about vacations, movies, etc.

I don’t know where you plan on going because there is no Utopia. The US for all its faults seems to be halfway stable. If you really are that worried, maybe help out getting out the vote for next year’s election. Be part of the solution.

Can you take a leave of absence and spend a few months in the US? Just to see if you can find a job and get settled.

People in Europe really downplay the whole xenophobia thing but honestly, I still think the US handles immigrants and assimilation miles better than Europe. I’ve actually been shocked at the casual racism in NL and Germany towards anyone black or darker skin. While we have our idiots in the US, it’s far less tolerated.

Honestly, if you want to move back, I would. France is a very very hard place to live for expats. And who says you can’t move back to Europe again in the future. Perhaps sometime in the US in what you needed.

Unfortunately, nowadays Europe is not the liberal bastion of old. Housing issues, immigration and cost of living have all increased to bring about scapegoating and far-right leaders talking of easy solutions.

Unfortunately as the Netherlands have shown, Europe is going in a bad direction as well. A far right party getting the most votes in Netherlands is pretty scary. At least the US seems to be fighting that tide.

Definitely look into another doctor or hospital, it sounds like there were complications that didn’t get addressed. And file a complaint with the hospital.

Unfortunately some people will refuse to believe that European hospitals can be as bad or worse than American ones. I’ve heard stories such as yours and I hope you get the help that you need.
