UK roads aren’t built for the amount of cars, but unless you are in a large city like London you basically need to have one. Roads are often one lane, sometimes you need to back up so you don’t collide with someone.

Overall, I think the UK is very settled on tradition and not making changes because that’s “just the way we’ve always done it”.
