24F from the East Coast, in a long-distance relationship with my boyfriend in Turkey (2 years). Currently a senior in university with online classes, graduating in June '24. Recently got a job, but realizing it’s too much commitment. Missed Turkey during a trip to Belgium, reconsidering priorities. Parents kinda upset about leaving the job and Facing conflicting opinions from family, but I have a STRONG personal desire is to be in Turkey or travel. Already have a paid ticket to Turkey in March, feeling the need to make a decision soon.

So far I have zero dollars saved up. Could save an estimate of $3000 - $3500 before I leave.

Also, my best friend wants to travel for a month so their mom decided to pay for their plane ticket if we do a month in Europe together, so Europe cost will be split in the middle for that first month of March.

24 and in college, were you military or doctorate? if the former, hopefully you don’t have student debt, the latter, don’t you want to be in the field?

You’re young, you don’t have much cash or savings, but you sound like you want that YouTuber lifestyle. Maybe that might be a way to finance your trip, but that’s a helluva gamble. But Turkey in March, how are you going to finish your classes, even if its online, I don’t see you doing them if your vacationing.

I don’t remember gap years being the norm in the US, but if you can take one, and can pay for it, give it a try. but if you have no means of paying for it, you might want to check your priorities. btw $3,000 will disappear in hotels alone, really quick

Bachelors, I took a couple of years off to work as a live in social worker in San Francisco. It was a OK job but decided then and there that it’s not something I actually want to do which sucks but I love to volunteer just working with the group of people I was working in made me realize that I wasn’t really cut out for social work like I thought I was going to be. I don’t really want the YouTuber lifestyle. I think I just want a more calm lifestyle without the bills and definitely without owning a car. I have been doing online classes since my first trip to Turkey two years ago. It’s not hard because it’s flex and I can complete all of my assignments in the first two weeks of the seven weeks.
