Has anyone dealt with this question? For context, I’m American, my wife is Japanese. We live in Japan. I’m also quite sure she is not planning to kill me. Lol. I’d love to hear opinions/ideas on the topic.

If you are over 30 you should have probably given this some thought already, especially as you are married. It will make things easier for her and your family (back wherever).

What about your wife? Has she defined what she wants?

Outlining your wishes and maybe even paying up in advance will save someone a lot of problems when you do eventually pass away.

She didn’t have an answer either. I agree that outlining everything for the survivors is the best idea.

This. My husband and I have said for years we need to get living testaments and wills done. So if something happens to one of us, we have it in black and white what our wishes are and the family can’t argue with it. I don’t think my family would argue, but his mom might and you just never know until it happens.

Also, inheritance laws here I think state that your living parents get part of your estate, even if you are married, and he isn’t too found of that.

But… knowing we should do it and sitting down to do it are too different things, lol.
