I’m 61 and I’m not happy in the US. My son is gay and his partner is a Mexican citizen living here under DACA. We would all love to move there but we have some problems.

1- My son and his partner are required to make $3000 a month. Neither do which doesn’t help living in Arkansas 2- If my son’s partner goes to Mexico he’s not guaranteed he can come back to the US to see his sister which is a DACA.

I think I may be good because I receive SS and retirement. I looked up on immigration and it said I only had to make $1000 a month.

Can anyone help answer any of my questions? We’re getting kind of desperate to move. TIA

There are hundreds of topics on YouTube that cover this and when I like particularly well is by fellow from the Pacific Northwest and his show is called, “almost retired in Mexico” They essentially spend time in Mexico and in Oregon moving back and fourth as the seasons benefit them.

The minimum monthly income required to move to Mexico has been going up and up. It is currently $2500, and is dependent on what consulate you go to. Some require as much as $3600.

If you are a couple, the additional spouse would need $800 to $1060, depending on the consulate. Maybe that is the number you are seeing?

Alternatively, you can have approximately $55,000 in savings. This number also varies by consulate. So, if you have that, or the equivalent assets you can liquidate, you won’t need the higher income.

My husband and I are planning on retiring there in a few years, so we’ve done our research. I recommend looking up Mexico Relocation Guide on YouTube, and watching the latest videos Mariana has on minimum requirements for temporary residency. She keeps the information really up to date.

Note: the requirements for temporary residency are lower than for permanent residency, and you can be automatically elegible for permanent after four years of temporary

Does you son want you to move with him? Maybe he just wants to move with his partner? Y’all going to live together?

Him moving back to Mexico with DACA not being set in stone as a law would, with no exaggeration, destroy his life if he tries to come back to America.
