Moving to the US from UK soon. I need to ship 6-10 large boxes of my personal belongings. Formal moving companies have quoted me £800-£1000 for a service that takes 90 days on average to be delivered. I looked on UPS and it looks like the same boxes can be delivered in 4 working days for £600-£800. Am I going to be stumped with a big tax bill upon their arrival in the US if I go via UPS? Or would I be silly to go with the removal company? Any help/advice much appreciated!

    Having the same dilemma! I think we’re going to go with FedEx based on my research - we shipped things from the US to Ireland with a moving company and it was 3k and took 5 months. It was a complete nightmare. On the way back I’m just going to ship everything myself - it looks like I can even schedule FedEx to pick everything up? Seems like a no-brainer.

    I just shipped a 20kg box from Denmark to the USA via UPS and got my things in 4 days, cheapest option selected. No taxes, I just made it explicit on the forms that my items were personal/for personal consumption.
