What do you think?

Goods:
2.6 million people live here, big enough but not too big
Suburbs and smaller cities/towns available (Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba)
Developed
Good weather
English speaking
Low crime
Direct flights to Dubai, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo, San Francisco, Los Angeles
Koalas and kangaroos

Bads:
Less economic activity compared to Sydney/Melbourne (but more than where I currently live)
Extremely far from North America and Europe (not a problem for me, once a year to each is enough)
Closest major city (Sydney) is 560 miles / 900 km away (daily direct flights)
Some deadly animals

I think you’ve summed it up nicely! (Long-time Brisbane resident here.)

One key other factor is the cost of housing. This will vary depending on your work situation / location. Current rental crisis (Vacancy rate well below 1%), perhaps not dissimilar to many other cities around the world; and the cost of housing in Australia is ridiculous by most global standards, although if you’re bringing wealth from a country like the USA the current exchange rate is in your favour.

I’d love to move there but I’ve seen too many videos of spiders and snakes and heard too many stories of people finding spiders in their shoes… not for me but ugh, it looks like an amazing city!

Phobia. Knowing they could appear at any time would drive me insane! I’m from Norway and we don’t get many insects in our houses. I moved to NZ many years ago, it was between Aus and NZ and I chose the latter because of their lack of big, creepy and scary insects haha

Brisbane’s great, they are getting the Olympics in 2032 I believe so there will be booming infrasture builds and a lot of money entering the state shortly.

Don’t expect it to keep it’s small town vibes, Brisbane is on track to be a major player on the east coast and will likely go through teething pains in terms of affordability and public transport.

Id say Brisbane has the most potential in Australia for the next decade in terms of initiatives and planning goes.
