I’m originally from the UK but I’m now in Canada and I hover around some groups of people from the UK online and in person and I swear the Brits are the most whiny people to ever move anywhere. These people genuinely move to places and expect it to be exactly like the UK and when it’s not they shit on the country. Idk if it’s some leftover colonial mindset or something that hasn’t been removed from their psyche?
I’ve heard people complain that there’s no British cream (like the standard whipping cream which exists but is called something different) in stores, British bread, British seasonings, very specific type of curry called the brimingham balti which I don’t think I’ve seen outside of northern England. Amongst many other things and it’s absolutely mind blowing
Genuinely makes me embarassed to be in anyway related to these people. Anyone else get absolutely sick of your old countries people?
I never realised how loud Americans are until ai moved out of the country. And they can be down right obnoxious.
Im in Japan and did a little shopping yesterday on our public holiday. There was an American (I assume tourist) just standing in front of a shelf loudly bellowing his child’s name for them to come see what he’d found. Didn’t even bother to turn to look for him or catch his eye - his first idea was shouting in a crowded, but still relatively quiet, shop.
It’s not just Americans. I’m an Azeri Iranian and we are even louder.
We don’t get many American residents, but the ones we do get downright suck. Self-entitlement. Obnoxious behavior.
I’m always forced to continually shush my American family members when they visit.
Why are you yelling, I’m right here and my hearing is fine.
I’m an Aussie in Japan and we can be just as loud as you guys. Japan is a really quiet place and the Japanese like it that way.
We also block doorways and don’t have elevator etiquette to name a few more.
Saying that, I love to meet other Aussies here.
I’m (second-generation) American. I have this coworker from Texas. His voice is so loud when he teaches that I can hear him all down the hallway. I’m like, “Dude, the whole world doesn’t need to hear what you’re saying.”
