Hi everyone. Am looking to relocate to Europe with my partner and I have a feeling we’re not seeing some of the expected costs and procedures currently.
We’ll be taking some furniture with us along with pets. From what I can gather we need to be considering the following:
Flights - $3000 (1500 each) Shipping container 20ft - $4500 3x cat relocation - $6500 Some new clothes while we wait for the container - $3000 Unplanned incidentals - $3000 Total $20K AUD
Costs like temporary accommodation when we land im looking as a separate element same as transport (bus/train/etc) and I’m leaving food out of this currently too.
Basically we’re trying to work out the cost of the physical move itself and not the cost of living when we arrive at our destination.
Are there any important things that we should be factoring into our budget for this move that we’re currently overlooking?
Will you require temporary, private health insurance before you’re enrolled in the new system, or say, pay out of pocket for prescriptions for a while? You may need to put down deposits on utilities, since you likely have no credit history in your new country. There’s ALWAYS unplanned, unknowable expenses, so it’s best to have extra funds available, if you can. We went from 🇺🇸 to 🇨🇦, and I have a family member that went from 🇺🇸 to 🇰🇷, but I’d imagine these might be things to think about.
Great points, am making note of these to consider :)
