Hi everyone, my new fiancé (UK citizen) and myself (US citizen) are both currently living in the UK (I am here on a work visa, been here for five years, and met him here about two years ago). However due to my job situation we are likely going to be moving to the US around August of next year—unsure where yet as I won’t know my job situation until March. He is finishing his PhD (done in the spring), and ideally would like to get a work visa in the US (but of course thats not guaranteed). However, he was saying to me that the easiest route to get in is with a marriage visa or even a fiancé visa. Trouble is that I am hesitant to get married so soon after getting engaged, and I have my own personal hesitancies about marriage in general due to my upbringing. But i know the clock is ticking as marriage/fiance visa takes like a year to get…but he argues that we won’t treat it as a true marriage, instead just a piece of paper to allow him into the country…but of course it affects finances etc when you legally tie yourself to someone…

any thoughts/advice? should we just bite the bullet and do it? Marriage vs fiancé visa? Are work visas really that hard to get in the US? thanks everyone
