So basically I’ve worked at this job in the US for the past year but my visa ended so I am back in Australia where I’m from. I’ve been working remotely whole I’m back and I’m meant to be working on getting a new visa to go back to the US. I’m kind of the only person at my job that is working remotely right now as everyone is based in the US working from the office. My visa is taking a while to prepare and start, and my boss talked to me the other week giving me some options on what to do which included 1) getting this visa, which will cost up to a few thousand and may take a few months OR I could continue working from home in Australia for the foreseeable future (although I know she would prefer me to go back) I originally told her that I’m leaning more towards going back to the US with this new Visa. However, after some thought I would really want to live a digital nomad life, working from Asia as I love travelling and have solo travelled abit. I want to give it a try and maybe go to Malaysia/ Thailand for a month and work from there. But I’m not sure if I should tell my boss or just go secretly and test it out before making a decision. I also don’t know if this is even legal for me, would I be able to do this without them knowing. Do they need to know legally? Would I need to get a digital nomad visa? Or could I just work they and they just pay me how they normally would?

In this case, you can work from “home” with home being wherever you are.

    I see permission there.
