To those who grew up in America and are recent expats, I have a question.

If you still find ways to watch American sports live, do you ever feel like you are living your day in reverse?

I think that is what I am feeling like today. It feels like the climax (watching the AEW pro wrestling event) of my day has already happened and now I don’t know what to do with the rest of my free time today.

Normally back in America, watching the big sports event or whatever of the day happens late at night starting at like 8pm or so. So it’s an exciting and fun way a ton of people like to end their days. Watch the big event then go to bed because nothing else can top that drama and excitement for the day.

Well now that I’m here in Taiwan, if I still want to watch all of those American sports live then now I’m starting my day with them and after they are over I’m left with a feeling of ok well what to do next and I end up coming up with nothing because nothing is as exciting as what I just got done watching.

Just wondering if anyone else can relate to what I am currently feeling today?

Yeah, I watch my NBA in the morning with coffee. East Coast games occasionally air at a reasonable time of the night but, if they don’t, I sleep and watch them in the daytime.

Except for West Coast NBA playoffs … wake up early in the a.m. for those.

Do you just watch the highlights or something (talking about football mostly)? Or how do you get a 90 minute version of a 3-4 hour game?

It’s a legit struggle for me. My football club in the states is pacific time zone, I’m 8hrs ahead. Most games end starting for me around 2-4am.

So trying to keep all score alerts turned off while trying to get the replay of the game up to watch it “live for me” while also trying to cover parts of the screen to not show the final score (I’m looking at you AppleTV)… it’s a losing battle more often than not.

Giants and Niners here. Watching west coast sports from Europe means lots of 2am and 4am games. When the Niner game is on at 2, generally I will go to bed around 10 for 4 hours then set my alarm. Then I get another 1 nap after the game. Helps if we win haha. For baseball, I usually get up at 5-6ish and go for a run while I listen to the end of game on the radio feed.
