I want to live in Thailand. From what I gather through the different subs of Reddit, nomading is somewhat in the grey area when it comes to remote work with some company’s being okay with it and some company not allowing it at all, resorting to employees having to find various ways to hide their locations. But what about being an expat, or completely relocating to a different country? How do employers feel about that? You’re in a consistent location with constant internet connection. I would like to know how possible it is to work a completely remote cyber security job while living entirely in another country.

Where I am

  • USAF doing network admin with less then year less in my contract
  • Sec+ and CCNA
  • Top Secret clearance
  • Currently enrolled in WGU’s Cybersecurity Bachelors degree
  • Enrolled in Josh Madakor’s Cybersecurity course

My plans in chronological order

  • Get out the military and use the TS clearance to get a job and gather more experience in security
  • Finish the degree with some more certs under my belt
  • Use everything above to leverage myself into an uncleared fully remote job that allows me to work from Thailand

Someone tell me how smooth this will all actually be. Thank you and have a good day!

There is absolutely no way any government job which needs a clearance to let you to perform your job in another country. Case closed
